The water that I used to rinse and soak my lace rocks the first time (3 or 4 days of soaking) came from a typical garden hose. This hose is over a year old and has had a lot of water pass through it, but I know that some hoses have an antifungal/antibacterial? coating. Do you think that this will be an issue? The water for the boiling and the final soak (overnight last night) came from the tap - no garden hose.

After I put the rocks in, I will probably run the filters for a while with carbon to purify the water.

Anyone had any problems with garden hoses?

There have been a few reports of people having fish kills after using new hoses, but I can't recall anyone who had a problem with using an old hose. With the further benefits of boiling and another rinse, I think you're safe. It's doubtful that anything left in the hose would survive boiling.
