Hi Friends !

My DIY Yeast Co2 system is working great ! I use 2 x 2 Liter Soda bottles and they're giving me a good steady stream of C02. I have connected the tube in to the Plastic Diffusor of my Internal Eheim 2048 Filter and its spraying great !

Now, after running for about a week, I see that there is this Whitish Jelly like substance forming inside the plastic diffusor. Its trapping bubbles and looking a jelly like, glue like substance... Is the plastic reactinc with co2 and melting ? Will this secretion harm the plants and the fish ?

Kindly advice as I'm really worried...
Thanks !

it sounds like calcium build up

I think this is the yeast biproduct. Same is happening to my DIY Co2. After much experimentation and observation I came to the conclusion that it is some sort of biproduct from the yeast and the sugar. watch your airline carefully and check if some of the condensation is making it into your diffusor. It is still happening to mines and I have to clean the build up whenever I recharge the Co2. Although I havent found the time to do it, but I think putting a small bottle (about the size of film canister) as a gas seperator after the check valve might do the trick. I have yet to try it but Ill let you know if it works. Hope this helps. fyi - the jelly substance doesnt seem to affect any of the inhabitants in the tank

How does the seperator hook into the system?
