First what I think of this skimmer...I do not recommend it. How is that for truthful? It came as part of the used set-up I bought on Craigslist when first starting up and less than a week later I removed it, cleaned it and have never used it again. You will not hear me say anything good about this skimmer. It is loud, it needs fiddled with constantly, like many skimmers it claims to be rated for a volume it can't possibly handle. I sincerely wish stores would stop stocking it when it often retails for what a decent skimmer would cost yet they don't stock the decent one.
Now on to why you might want it.
Some say it is an OK starter skimmer (although my eyebrow goes up when I hear or read that).
Some say this model will be OK on a nano sized tank.
Some like to collect shiny acrylic things.
Some people refuse to believe the opening paragraph of this post.Ignore the price tag except to laugh and allow me to say once again I did not pay that amount for it. I'd rather trade than get money for it. I'd take a book, a frag, some rock rubble, etc. If you really want to buy it instead I'll consider it but my concious is thinking I'll not be able to sleep at night. :lipssealedsmilie:
