I got a 2 inch FH yesterday; Even Though I asked the LFS guy to give me 2 of those he said that they would fight with each other till one killed the other. Are FH really that aggressive to their own kind?

What is the best company for my new FH. He's in a 4 gal Quarantine bowl right now. He destroyed the lone plant i had in there.....:silly::silly::silly:Cichlids!!!

I just can’t accept a lone fish:headshake2:

What will be the final tank size for that fish? At 14 inches, you are looking at a 75g as the minimum with no fish in it other than the FH itself. FH's are extremely belligerent. You cannot put any fish with it I'm afraid. Was there a reason why you chose that fish?

The 4 gal is only for quarantine- the next 30-40 days only. The 30g occupants are ready to move to the 100G(getting it custom made for a specific spot at home so this is probably going to get bigger 5 feetX2feet highX20inches), So the 30G will be his home till he is about4-5 inches. I'll be getting him a bigger tank later.

I actually went out to buy printer ink, dont ask me how but came home with a FH.

Most FH will kill pretty much anything you put in its tank, no matter how large. They are extremely aggressive. There are rare exceptions, but most likely you'll be stuck with a lone fish in a big tank (a single FH needs 75 Gallon plus) unless you want a parade of temporary fish that get bullied and beaten to death one after the other.

Most of the flowerhorns I've seen don't tolerate any tankmates. I've heard that there are some exceptions (haven't seen yet) but still quite risky I think. The only time I've seen grown flowerhorns together is when they are breeding or just have bred.

Be careful if you wanna try. And good luck :)
