Well it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to catch my Bangaii Cardinals to put them in the "love shack". So that means I have a spare tank (oh dear what a pity etc!)

It's a 34 gal and I'm thinking

1 x lemonpeel Angelfish - always wanted one but they're not reef safe

1 x pistol shrimp/goby pair - haven't made up my mind on which goby

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I absolutely love lemon peel angels. They are one of my favorite fish

I'm sure you've heard it before but all I hear about them is that they are hard to take care of. I've also read on WWM that they need a tank larger than 34 gallons, they are the biggest of pygmy angels. I guess wait and see whatever else says as I don't have any experience, I'm just saying what I've read.

The lemonpeel is one of the smaller dwarf angels we can choose forour tanks...Th only real time when a larger than 30 odd gallons is needed is when your trying to breed a mated pair, then yes, i would suggest a 50 odd gallon "tall" tank...this extra size is need due to the spawning behaviour of these...

they are the smaller ones? I guess I read something wrong then because I thought they were one of the biggest pygmys.

WWM is one website I didn't check out - and you're right they do recommend larger. Everywhere I looked said a minimum of 20 or 30 gallons. may have to reconsider this one.

Right. They are indeed one of the larger species, topping out at around 14 cm. I consider C. potteri to be a larger dwarf angel, but even it is smaller (at 10 cm) compared to C. flavissimus.

I have a lemonpeel and he is rather aggressive. He pushed the 3-stripe damsel out of his home as soon as I put him in the tank. He also gave me a fit when I purchased an ocillaris clown.

He's okay now but I'm afraid to introduce anything that moves slower. If you get one, introduce him last.

u can put a lemonpeel in a 34, but it has damsel-like behavior meaning the next fish u add in your tank, it might bother. i have a lemonpeel too in a partial reef, and i think it's generally safe. doesn't mess with dusters, inverts, but it might nip on a hard coral occasionally, but nothing dramatic. plus, they're not difficult to keep, u shouldnt follow all the crap that websites will tell you.

For that size tank, the goby/shrimp combo sounds perfect. :thm:

Thanks pebble. There wouldn't actually be much else in with it apart from the shrimp/goby combo. The corals are all staying in my other tank and if I want a pistol shrimp I'll probably be moving my sexy shrimps as well!!!

Seeing as I'm one of the first to suggest people are getting fish too big for their tanks I may have to back down and just havethe shrimp/goby combo and maybe keep my baby bangaii.

Any ideas for goby/shrimp pairs. What have you all paired up??
