Hello, thanks 4 any help here. What happens is I got a rare fish at Wal-Mart but he likes to kill. He would probably kill fishes even bigger than him. I didn't want to flush him so I put him in a small fish bowl. Now he looks like he's dying inside the fish bowl. The interesting part is that he revives or gets active when I put him back in the bigger tank with the other fishes. I need some help identifying this fish, I have no idea what it is and what to do with him.

He is probably not doing well in the bowl because it is neither aerated, cycled, nor filtered. If you don't want to get another tank for him, take him back to the store or find someone else who will take him in.

looks like a green spotted puffer... I am not well versed in them, this is what I know though, definitely not something that should be out of the water for any period of time because of their tendency to puff up when stressed. Tje puffing often stresses them additionally, often too much, and can be fatal to the fish. Also, I believe it is a brackish water fish. As far as it being rare... not so.

They require 30 gallons for just one fish and are brackish as others said. They don't do well with tankmates usually but I have mine with a molly and he hasn't eaten him yet. He won't survive in a bowl, they are very sensitive to bad water conditions because they don't have scales.

Do you have another tank you can put him in? If not, what is your location, maybe there is someone that can take better care of him in your area.

Thank You all 4 helping me out. I'll return him cuz I don't want him 2 die. People from wal-mart couldn't tell me the name and what 2 do with him when I got it.

:( I'm sorry to hear you're going to return him, they are really awesome fish and walmart shouldn't be selling them because they give out very wrong info.

I don't know any puffer owners in florida that I can think of that would be able to take him

It didn't puff any air probably cuz I took him out 4 only 2 seconds to take the pic. They definitely don't do well with tankmates. This cute little thing literally tore apart a Goldfish 2 times bigger than him.
