Hi there! This is my first post to this site so please excuse my ignorance! Thanks to anyone who replies!

Last year our children had some money left over from Christmas so we bought them an AquaOne AR126 tank (approx 22 liter/ 5.5 gallon) but I got hooked! I now want to upgrade to a 90 liter (20 gallon) tank. Thinking of the Aquaone 620 with overhead filter. I want to transfer my existing fish over to the new tank and get some new ones.

Here is my current stock:

7 Neon tetras
3 mollies (1 black, 1 marble, 1 white)
1 bull nose plecostomus
1 flying fox
1 platy
1 zebra danio (the survivor of the original batch in the tank)
2 japonica shrimps
1 Red tailed shark

So, any suggestions on what to add to this when I get the new tank? I was thinking of getting some:

Zebra danios (5 or 6 more)
A cory - suggestions?
Others I'm considering are some FEMALE Siamese fighting fish or Harlequin Rasboras or Ghost Catfish?

Any suggestions would be welcome. Please include any recommended quantities. I don't want to overstock my tank.

Thanks for any help and advice!!

Hello, and welcome!

You had all of those fish in a 5.5 gallon tank? That's amazingly overstocked. I think it may be too much for a 20 gallon, especially with the shark and pleco in the mix. I wouldn't worry about getting any more fish just yet.

Had it like this for months now - no probs! Only got serious about it late last year when the children's interest waned. Thanks for the reply!

I would use both filters on your new tank, put the sand or gravel from your old tank into the new one. As the old filter will be on the new tank there will be no need to cycle, you will be able to put fish straight in.

As for fish i would add some more danio's and try to re-home the shark (he will be a BIG problem when he gets older).
