This is NOT a thread to discuss ways to set up your camera/tank to take pics. This is a thread to post the pics you have taken.

Maybe we can get enough people to post pics to get this sticky.

Try to keep your post limited to ONLY photos. (and try to keep the size down to 640x480 or less) Maybe a description of the fish/tank and whatnot.

So...to start:

Thought I would add in some pictures of my 55 gallon tank. I have a couple native fish in there (a rock bass and pumpkinseed), as well as a pleco. I've had the pleco over two years now. The pumpkinseed and rock bass have been with me since July of last year.

Thanks Captain! Natives are fantastic fish-great variety, beautiful, and in the case of the sunfish I've caught pretty intelligent. As long as its legal to keep them, I'd recommend them to anyone with adequate tank space. The rock bass has been the real stunner for me-he's really curious about everything that's going on, and quite friendly. I had no idea what to expect when I caught him.

I'm kind of sick of the castle and am contemplating driftwood... don't mind the back right side of the tank, my plants floated to the top and I didn't have time to fix them last night!

Well, here's my latest addition...

http://www.angelfire.com/pro/geeky1/arowana.jpg

He/she'll probably only stay for a few months, at most, before I sell them back to the pet store.

Since I'm stuck with a 10g for right now, and even when I go to college, I don't anticipate being able to have much over a 29g, this guy is not going to be very happy in my tanks for very long.

I could put it in the new tank my grandparents are getting that is finally being delivered next week... even fully grown, it should be very happy in a 10x2x3' tank. But, I have other plans for that tank (discus, angels, and gouramis or a very, very large school of tiger barbs, to name just a couple of ideas I'm thinking about)

This is assuming that it makes it that far. I'm keeping a close eye on it, because it's in a tank with 3 young Spillurum cichlids, amongst other things... if the cichlids start beating it up, it's going back to the pet store. For right now though, they seem to be scared sh*tless of it. :D They're way too big for it to eat, but they stay the hell out if its way anyhow... :D :D

Not as impressive as alot of these fish you guys have. But I am still fairly new to the hobby. My tanks are alot smaller too.

These are from my planted South American tank. The species are from the rio negro region, but the plants are basically what I was able to grow, so its not a true biotope. The Java fern adn the hygrophila don't belong. And the CAE will be moving out soon, to be replaced with cory cats.

Young Blue Discus, from what I have observed they make a male/female pair. Behind them are cardinal tetras

http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v71/monikajay/S3010012.jpg

This one os kind of big, so here is a link
http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v71/monikajay/discuspair.jpg

Cardinal tetras, 2 of a shoal of 12, they let the 3 glowlite tetras hang out with them too. The glowlites are the only survivors of a disease that went through my 10 gal a month or so ago.

http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v71/monikajay/cardinaltetra.jpg

Blushing Marble (male, on right) and black (female, on left) Mated pair, but not successful due to females aggressiveness after egg laying.

Again, a little big, so a link http://img24.photobucket.com/albums/v71/monikajay/angelfishpair.jpg

Their positions are reversed in this one, but its the same pair.

my 5 cory cats.

The one in the middle is one eye jay, the biggest of the 5. I don't know what happened to his eye, but he doesn't seem to notice, and it doesn't look recent. It looks like it's been healed over for a long time. In the display tank at my lfs, he was the most happy, active one! lol, I guess he's the "old salt" :p

roliva - In effect, there are two species of Saddled Bichir, P. endlicheri endlicheri and P. endlicheri congicus. I've heard that the latter can reach well over 39" in the wild, whereas the former is smaller at around 12" - 18"... The one I own pertains to the former.

if your picture is hosted on the internet, all you have to do is click the "IMG" button just above the text box (http://, @, IMG, etc..) copy/paste the exact URL into the popup that appears and click OK. This will put the image directly into your post, no need to attach it. :)

We just moved up to a 125 when the crew outgrew the 55 gallon. We are working on a rock scape on the bottom... we hope to finish it soon.
I have always loved Veil Tail or Longfin Oscars. They have all the character and not so much of the agression. I think that my two albinos may be about to mate.. Keep your fingers crossed.. I am on the lookout for a nice piece of slate to put on the bottom.

Have you noticed a "Macro" mode on your camera? The picture/icon for it is typically a little flower... Its bascially a toggle for close up and normal shots.

Wow the colors on that Beta are stunning. I know they are supposed to be so easy to raise.. I have tried about 3 times and all 3 times I had to flush them. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I have saltwater tanks and fresh water tanks. But I can not keep a silly Beta. I have given up the effort. I dont think is fair to keep getting beautiful fish only to have them float in a couple of days.
And before you ask.. No I didnt put him in a tank with other male Betas.. I used a 5 gallon eclipse that I now have goldfish in, so I dont think there is anything wrong with the tank. I got the water from my large freshwater tank.. SO i dont know what the problem is.. just bum luck on my part.

Do you add salt to your tanks??

RocknRollMoCo
09-11-2004, 3:42 PM
Only put it in the salt water tank.. I have added it to the freshwater tank in the past.. but only if there is a problem with the fish. And then I have cheated by using the water from the saltwater tank. I dont believe that I have done it anytime close to when I had the betta. I could be wrong.. I have not tried (raising a betta) in several years.

RocknRollMoCo

Thanks so much for the awsome responce to my Oscars. We tend to baby the big ol' fish alot. Its gotten so bad that last night we were talking about the Hurricane that is coming our way and Jerry wanted to know if we could buy a generator. His responce to my questioning why he wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on something we could possibly never use again.. "What are the Oscars going to do without the filter running?" With the possibly of at least 50mph winds blowing a brick into our house, he is worried about the oscars. As for slate.. we have found more slate from friends and the woods. I still don't know if they are mating or what. The two white oscars are best buds the black oscar and the largest white oscar are doing the kissy fighting thing I have read about... but I have seen the two white fish kind of slinking up to the blackone and making there tail vibrate... you tell me.. have I got some crazy fish or what.

Such is life. Did I show you guys my other little toy? Its the start of a 10 gallon reef tank. It got about 25lbs of live rock, two mean damsels, one featherduster and a clam that I just got. These pictures are a couple of weeks old. My digital camera broke last week and I have got to get another one soon. I have fish and children to take pictures of.
(Hopefully this will work.. when I tried to download it they said I already had.. I had asked a question about it in the marine newby section.)

Dangerdoll
10-11-2004, 12:41 PM
thanks Seaman, I certainly agree, a background is definitely needed...... and black may be the answer..... hmmmmm, I wonder if I could get it painted while it's already set up.... any ideas?

Seaman
10-11-2004, 3:36 PM
I wouldnt paint it when its allready up, I painted the back of my 20 high with a brush and you can see the lines, where as if you use spray paint (make sure and cover the top very good) it looks solid black, and i wouldnt reccomend spraypainting it after its setup....too risky in my mind. Just go get some black poster board from hobby lobby or MJDesigns for a couple bucks and that will probbably look GOOD.

Dangerdoll, I read in your specs that those are silk plants. Is the stripey one a real aquatic plant species, or is it just a really cool looking silk plant?

Your tank looks great, by the way...

Hey Sam, the stripey one is a silk plant that I bought from aquabid... I plan on going live once the cycle is done, not sure if I'll leave those for then too though..... thanks ;)

My 40gal planted tank, just got 4 juvie rainbow cichlids in hope of getting a pair. The tank also contains various pl*cos and some young convicts(had no where else to put them, they will be going soon).Sorry for the crappiness of the pics the rainbows wont stay still.

Had to post this one, I seldom get a photo op like this. If you look in the botton right corner of the pic you can see the royal hanging out under the slate. Oscar and dempsey are close to 6" now FM is about 3. I wish I could figure out how to post pictures like everyone else does. it takes me forever to get a pic to acceptable size and then it shows up as a thumb instead of a full size pic.

noob here but heres pics of mine with and without plants. i figured out a way to achieve the caustic effect in lighting, giving the tank some nice shadowing and underwater shimmering, the fish seem to prefer it better cuz the light isnt blinding them. the tank appears foggy in the pic but its not its just the use of no flash and the tank lighting.

55 gal. containing white sand, real seashells and laquered coral, 1 orange algea eater, couple of angels and some other fish whatever they are. i think the fish seem to prefer the sand since they appear to be playing in it alot or thier just wallowing around in it to find food i duno

Yes. I just took these today.

I think I'll get rid of the 'corckscrew' plants. I don't really like the looks of them. Most likely I'll try and find some more straight leaf Val plants.

In one of the pics, the CO2 reactor is visable, which I usually try and hide with plants. ...there's some work to be done.......
Also, you can see plant floating that was uprooted somehow....

Hey Debra, awesome tank pics! Don't a lot of the small fish get eaten? More pics please!

Thanks Captain Hook! Some of the smaller fish do get eaten by the TSN. We have found that the ones born in the tank are a lot smarter than any new fish introduced. The small ones are also super fast. It seems that once the fish get about 6" - 8" inches they are more noticeable and when they want to spawn they tend to become forgetful and less alert - that's when the TSN will pounce.....

you'll need to upload your pics to a picture hosting site such as www.picturetrail.com (http://www.picturetrail.com)

then when that's done, open the picture, rightclick on it, select properties, and copy the url..... paste it here as an image....

Thanks N8DOGG,
But how did you get my pics?

Well, for example, your first picture, N8DOGG just copied 'http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL702/3048346/6181504/79545671.jpg' and then clicked the 'Attach Image' icon then pasted it in there. That's all.

no, a queen looks more black and has white spots. this is what i believe to be l66 which is a king tiger.

This is one of my wolf fish. Not the best angle, since you really can't see her body, but it's a decent look at the dentition:
