My aquarium tried to kill me

How: infected me with Mycobacterium marinum, possibly in my sleep.

when: about 1 month ago

who: maybe the shrimp....but im thinking the snails


So i go to the doctors office and my doc takes one look at my arm and says "i dont know" he needs a consult. He walks out the door and another doc comes back with him, he introduces him as not the consult just a looky lue. the looky lue tells my doc what it is and they leave to go confirm. 3 mins later they return with another doc, he is the consult, he confirms what it is and they leave. 5 mins later there is a line outside the door with bout 12 docs wantin to look at my arm. Apparently this is the first case they've seen and they wanted to see what it looks like. Long story short they took pics and now my forearm is goin to be in a medical journal.

I hired a detective to solve who done it....turns out it was a collaboration. Heres proof, if you look close enough you can see the vial they used to infect me.

The snail mafia?..With a vial, did you see the blue mist before it happened?..

seriously though, what were the symptoms? how do they think you contracted it? This could be beneficial for most people to know.

just a bacteria infection. From what the doc told me and looking online its not lethal and symptoms are some narly bumps on my arm. il be on 6 months of antibiotics, funny thing is the meds make me sensitive to light, i have to wear sunblock if im goin to be out side :( . I've never bought sunblock in my life, always depended on my natural melanin :grinyes:
 
So, it can become severe if left untreated eh.

Hmm, doesn't sound like a pleasant experience with the sores and meds and all. Makes me want to wear gloves when messing with the aquariums.

How about you upload a pic of your infected arm so we can know what to look for, and know when to seek medical attention.;)

It seems like I read a horror story a while back about this infection going really bad. Good to hear you had enough sense to see a doctor. I'm not sure I do. It must look pretty gnarley.

Remember, always be weary of sketchy looking inverts with vials.
