And my plants look a bit yellow. Now, some loss of green is to be expected after 2 days in the dark IMO. However, my hornwort looks like it's nearly completely turned a golden colour. Does this mean it's about to melt into a billion little pieces in my tank? Should I yank it and just buy another bunch? Or will it come back now that the lights are on?

(Lights were off to help some new fish de-stress)

If not "brown" per se, they are still doing something, but will probably die off. The plant however should be okay and it should start to send up new shoots.

Certainly

CT is right...my hornwort makes miraculous recoveries, as long as there is some green somewhere, once it gets light and nutrient, it shoots out again. Low light is a big offender with plant death (and therefore fish stress caused by loss of ammonia uptake between H20 changes).
