hey
i may be gettin a larger tank for my discus soon and was thinking that the current tank i hav now should hold somthing in it. i was thinking cichlids because i know they look very nice and i havnt kept them before and would like some experience in mouth brooders. i think i may go with some Otopharynx Lithobates Zimbabwe Rock. wot do u think of these fish?
wot do i need to put into the tank for them? i was rthinking of breeding thembut alspo hav it as a display tank and maybe move the holdoing females to a different tank to let go of the babies.
wot water conditions do i need?
how do i trigger breeding?
how many could i pput in a 3ft/165L/45gallon tank?
should i put anything in with them? or just by themselves?
anyother things i need to know just tell me please.
thanx in adbanced

A 3' tank is a bit small for lithobates, they'll outgrow it sooner or later. Yellow Lab's and demasoni would make a good display, provided you have sufficient filtration and do regular weekly water changes.
Personally, I'd use that tank for the multi's. They'll quickly overcrowd an 8 gallon tank.

I'd disagree for a few reasons, o. lithobates stay relatively small for a malawi hap, around 5"-5.5", it is also relatively peaceful as opposed to other malawi cichlids. So if planned right (male to female ratios, decor, etc..) I don't see why a 3 foot tank wouldn't work.
