1 on another forum said cause i wrote perishable on the box that they put it in the fridge and they were cold when they got them and the pack was cold
so i'm not sure about them since i'm not in there with them,..but all arived fine and happy but chilly, so please let me know this is the first time i used heat packs, i think i will just trust warmer weather, good thing it's not really cold now..

heat packs work great. :) you don't want them to be super hot, just warm enough to keep the water at a nice balmy 80 degrees. :)

In my experience, they take several hours to get really warm. I pack boxes first thing in the morning, usually by lunch time on the way to the post office I can feel where I have the heat pack affixed to the inside of hte box. I put them in cold, haven't had one not work yet.

Have to agree with others....All the online purchaes i have made for livestock / coral have had heat packs, and i think they they make a big difference when shipping...I always like to see them used if shipping is going to be chilly...

read the package it says 30 mins to start working there is also a peak time where it gets hot. check out the shipping sticky in the classifieds. i never mark my packages at all.

They can be defective just like anything else. Frank from Frank's Aquarium got a whole shipment of bad ones and I happened to buy fish from him with heat packs from that bad batch so the fish were cold when they arrived. Ever since that happened, I open them up and let the air activate them for at least 30 minutes to be sure they've started to warm up. Especially important when shipping over a period of 2-3 days in colder temperatures.

thanks guy, i thought they were heating, but i didn't want to wait till it really got hot then it would be losing time and heat, and yes i always worry too much for the health if my critters...
