So i got a new watchman goby, well i didnt... my wife decided to suprise me............ needless to say im gonna have to fudge around with my stocklist. After 2 weeks and 5 days in the qt i have put my fish into the display tank... 2 clowns and the suprise from my wife... A tiger watman goby, well the clowns are doing fantastic, the clown goby, i dont see at all unless i stick my head around the tank. So my question is should i mess around with my aquascaping and push all of my lower rocks to the back of the tank so he cant hide behind them anymore? also i got rid of my worthless powerheads and got a koralia 3 but now they arent swimming on the side that has the powerhead on it, im guessing because of the powerhead. Its a 60 G tank with 60# live rock 60# live sand and 30# base rock. Im thinking about taking out 25# base rock. what do you all think. The fish have been in there about 3 weeks

I don't think there is much you can do to prevent a goby from making his home wherever he wants. If you like your aquascape the way it is, just leave it. From my experience gobies will make several homes if they can.. and after a couple weeks, they usually make a hole that is facing the front of the tank. I know that has been the case for all my gobies.. first couple weeks you don't see much... then one day you see them sticking their heads out the front looking at you, and from then on that is how it usually stays.

Funny how googling a Tiger Watchman Goby comes up with the yellow headed sleeper as the first info link. Not the same goby.

yep gobies can be shy at first, i didn't see my yellow watchman for the first like 3 months in my 29g and now he's out all the time perched on the rocks. i wouldn't mess with your rocks. and the koralia might seem like a lot of flow to you but it's not really in that size tank, i had a K3 in my 37g and the fish managed just fine :)

Gobies can be real stubborn about where they make their hideouts. However, they can be pigs too. Once he realizes the scary shadows give out food then he will be more willing to explore. I would also try to drop some bottom pellets down for him. He might figure out its easier to search for food on the ground rather than compete with the hungry clowns for the food in the water column. That way you might be able to trick him into finding a comfortable perch.

My Yellow Rose Antenna goby is pretty reclusive. He's hanging out with my pistol shrimp though, so if you sit still for a few minutes, he'll come out.
