Recently, some dwarf cichlids were given to me... and I haven't been able to determin exactly what they are... I'm leaning towards the Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid... but they also look like they might be the banded dwarf cichlid.

Here's a picture of the male... it's a little fuzzy... if I can I'll also try to post a picture of the female...

I could be wrong too, but have you looked into Pandurini's?

I have, however I know it's not them because the Panda's have rounded tails while the dwarfs I have have concave tails... They are so very confusing:)

Close, but the mouth's too small and the male looks totally different from the male I have...:( . The apistos I have also have little spikes on the ends of their tails, kinda like little lyres, also.

It's hard to say. I had a look at some of the photos at www.apistogramma.com (http://www.apistogramma.com) and there are a few fish that look similar to your own.

Maybe, Juruensis, Macmasteri, Morado or Trifasciata. Have a look at their gallery and see if any of those fish match your own. I should note that a lot of the ones there, like Juruensis are probably colour variations of the original wild caught fish.

Not knowing the age of your fish, and given the somewhat fuzzy nature of the photos, it is difficult to say with certainty. But they could also be A. staecki. The black patterning seems to be right, the tail shape ditto, but there are other, subtler patterns that I simply cannot make out.

From the few pictures that showed the fish in good light I would have to agree with you. A. staecki looks very similiar to the fish I have. Thanks for your help everyone :)
