Should I be gravel vaccing, or should I allow the mulm to build up?

I have heard several people talk about letting the mulm build up on top of their gravel to help their plants grow. Is this a good idea or should I be vaccuuming the gravel regularly?

I would still gravel vac the spots where theres no plants. Even passing over the gravel by the plants will do.

:iagree: In very densely planted areas you can leave the mulm if you want, but I like to get as much out as possible for aesthetic reasons.
