Can I bleach (diluted 20 to 1) my driftwood that is covered with bba. My concern is can i rinse it enough not to harm my tank when i put it back in? Has anyone done this before any help would be greatly appreciated.

After you are done bleaching it, and be sure to let is soak for a while, then boil it for 30 minutes. Then let it dry out in the sun, or a for several days. Then soak it in water with a large overdose of prime for several days. Then boil it again for a bit. I did that once and had no problems. The bleach soaks into the wood, so I think you need to go to all that trouble to get it out. It may be overkill, but better safe than sorry. I think I went with more like 5:1 though.

Hav you considered an Excel dip instead. It's more tank friendly then bleach. I would scub as much off as possible then put it in a bucket and dose 5 times the normal dosage.

I think if you just boil it it would kill the algae. No need for bleach. Then scrub and done

The boiling will do it.
