Last weekend i went to the lfs to get a fromia star, the assistant took me to them and they were identical to blue linkia, but... now im aware of this so i question it, and he said this is a fromia, they are alot hardier and are definatly fromia, DEFINATLY.....now i didnt want a linkia, but for some reason i believed him and bought it!!
That evaporated salt must really mess up my head in those stores!!
anyways, I acclimatised it slowly and in it went.
First 2 days, it stuck in one corner, i attempted to move it and in doing that i noticed a few (suckers??) were still on the glass (NEVER felt so guilty!!) However, after that he went for a good examine round the tank. However, he always manages to find this corner, then routes around for abit......
However, 2 days hes stuck in this corner again... a little bit of his arm sticks out, over the current (return of my fluval), could he be eating from the water column?? or are they known to stay in areas this amount of time? I do not want to attempt to move him again.
On top of all that, hes near the surface, and i thought they didnt like air!!

I would say there is a possiblity that is a red linkia you have there...Any chance of a photo of the top (front) of the star??

Thats a red linkia....The red fromia has a larger main body section that the linkia....
**Edit...fogot your questions...It should be fine where it is, as long as it does not just perm stay there, else you'll be hand feeding it :)

what do you hand feed these dudes?
Meaty chunks...just place them right up close in between the arms..It will sense they are they and take them in...

I feed my CC star cut up pieces of raw shrimp, krill, oysters, clams, lobster, etc. When he is hanging on the side of the glass like yours I give him a tickle and he lays back and lets me put food between him and the glass and then he reattaches himself to the glass and eats.

Yes they do grave and will eat almost anything they find.I have a brittle star also and I have never hand feed him he finds what he wonts on his own.
My CC star also loves algae that I put on the algae clip for my tangs,he will cruise over to the clip and sit on it till he eats all the algae sheet.

i recently got a orange aka red linkia as well - which is what yours is :) the orange ones are much hardier than the blues so don't worry. when i put mine in the tank after acclimating him it cruised across the glass up to the top corner (like yours) and stayed there for like 3 days. now it moves about the tank constantly.
