Who knows. A star could have collapsed into one of these millions of years ago and the gamma ray burst could be but a second away from toasting the planet right now.

Am I worried?

Not in the least. Even though there is speculation that the largest mass extinction this planet has ever had was due to one of these bursts I think the odds of being hit are so low that there isn't a thing to worry about. If we do get hit though i hope it's a direct hit so we're put out of our misery.

Yes, a direct hit would be quick.

Infinitely better than being paved over to make way for an intergalactic freeway bypass. :D
