i have heard that befor you feed your pleco fruit you have to blanch it, is this nessasry, and if it is how do you do it?? thank you

Blanching it breaks down the bonds so that it is more edible. Freezing it does the same thing. (Ever notice if you freeze or blanch a piece of lettuce, it won't be crisp anymore?) Whether or not it HAS to be blanched for them to eat it, I don't know.

I think most people do it, just so the veggies, (mostly cukes and chinni's) will not float...

i just hold a piece of cuke on a chunk of slate with a rubber band (thats soaked for a couple days).

whats cuke and chinnis

got it, so just freeze it, how long, can you deyidrat it in a deydrater

I noticed that the fish can get to the zucchini a lot faster when it is blanched. when I used to put the "raw" piece in it took them a while before they were able to munch pieces off.

so how do i blanch it
