so heres the deal...

i have 2 FBTs that i feed crickets to, sometimes they get treated w/ waxworms...

i usually buy about 2 or 3 dozen crickets every time i pick them up, but lately, the pet stores around here have been running out of small crickets, and none carry any live worms

its been about 4 days since my poor frogs have eaten, but the pet stores do get crickets tomorrow... :headshake2:

for future use, is there anything else to feed them?
any suggestions?

Fire-bellies will probably eat anything that moves and will fit into their mouths. You can offer them moths, crickets, or flies from outside if you think the area hasn't been treated with pesticides.

You should consider raising your own earthworms. It's pretty easy and requires little space. You can also raise your own crickets, but it's probably too much trouble unless you're feeding a lot more than two frogs.
 
I feed mine treated pinhead crickets as well, but I also include live bloodworms. They now wait for me to lower in a small dish filled with shallow water and worms. In my tank, they also have the benefit of snacking on guppy fry.
 
I usually feed them about 6-7 small crickets to each of my FBTs once a week, and they're fine. Since they are amphibians, they can survive without food for up to 2-3 weeks.

LOL, yeah that's how most people react. But this species is tropical and if it escapes, it won't survive very long if the temperature gets below 80. In other words they die at room temperature. They also can't climb glass or fly.
 
yeah, i read that about them, still pretty nasty haha


ive been thinking about raising some kind of feeder, just not sure what i wanna do yet...

each of course have their own pros and cons

crickets seem like a hassle (mostly because im lazy)
earthworms seem pretty simple
the roaches dont sound too troublesome, but i dont like them :P

i guess ill see what happens
