Hi Friends !

Sorry for the topic, but I really do need very urgent help. One of the Dealers is getting a Plant shipment from Singapore and I'll have to select and buy the plants on the very first day it arrives (tomorrow) as he's gonna ship them to everyone else who has pre-ordered the plants. He's getting the following plants-

Aponogeton Madagascarensis Plant
Anubias barteri var. nana
Blyxa Japonica
Bolbitis Heudelotii
Ceratopteris Thalicroides
Crinum Calamistratum

Cryptocoryne wendtii Green Gecko
Echinodorus tenellus - narrow
Echinodorus tenellus - broad leaf

Eleocharis parvula
Eleocharis vivipara
Glossostigma elatinoides
Hemianthus callitrichoides
Hemianthus micranthemoides
Heterenthera zosterifolia
Hygrophila polysperma 'rosanervig'
Limnophila aromatica
Ludwigia arcuata
Pogostemon helferi
Rotala rotundifolia - green
Rotala indica
Vallisneria spiralis var. contortionist

Friends, it will be a GREAT-GREAT help if you can kindly help and guide me choose a few plants. I really am very new to plants and I dont know much about them. If you can kindly segregate the above plants in to Background, Middle and Foreground and line them up in each category according to ease of growing, it will be a great help to me. Please help me friends...

I've planned to buy 20 of the Vallisneria spiralis var. contortionist for a background corner patch. Is it a good idea ? What other easy plants (out of the above list) can I use in the background that will be easy to grow and not very light demanding.

I want to plant the Glossostigma elatinoides plants in the foreground but I'm not able to decide, which one to buy. Can I use the Pogostemon helferi or one of the Hemianthus types ?

I'd also love to keep a few Blyxa Japonica - are they easy ?

Kindly give me some time and guide me a little friends... I'll be REALLY-REALLY very grateful, as I dont want to waste precious money and time...

Sorry for the trouble...
Thanks and Regards
Kush

I know the vals, rotala, ludwigia and glosso need at least medium light to grow well. The crypts will do fine in lower light. I don't know about the others personally, but I suggest looking at

and

Vals, anubias, and crypts all have worked well for me in low light. I had major problems with the ludwiga though...as with stereokills I am unfamiliar with others.

Aponogeton Madagascarensis Plant is also known as Madagascar Laceleaf it's a pretty difficult plant to take care of with problems ranging from extremely high light all the way up to the unexplained dying after a year due to not enough food to the bulb. As far as I know nobody has figured out exactly how to keep these alive past the 1st year. Anubias barteri var. nana is a BEAUTIFUL plant and I highly suggest you get one. I can't say enough about them honestly they are one of my favorites by far. Blyxa Japonica is a beautiful plant but it needs soft water, high light and pretty fragile from what I recall reading. Bolbitis Heudelotii or african water fern is pretty easy to take care of if you have the right tank..it needs some flow and low light make sure you don't od on the fertz because its sensitive to iron. Ceratopteris Thalicroides is simply Water Sprite another one of my favorites. Great for any tank because it takes out the extra nurtriants in the water so alge really doesn't stand a chance with this plant. The only down fall..it grows like a WEED...infact I removed it from my tank because I was trimming it down atleast 3 times a month. Just keep it well trimmed and watch for the "mother" plant to die off sooner then later and you will have to either get another one or use one of the 2392873273287 clippings you will have.
Crinum Calamistratum is a nice bulb plant. It kinda looks like a dwarf onion just the leaves are little different. Just know that they grow H U G E 15 to 40 INCHES! Any
Cryptocoryne is fine another plant that I simply love. Grows big but over time.
Echinodorus tenellus is just pygmy chain sword which is good if you have high light.
Eleocharis parvula or dwarf hair grass has identical requirements as chain sword and same with Eleocharis vivipara..Glossostigma elatinoides needs high light..it can be nice as a carpet but not for a beginner just imo...Hemianthus callitrichoides &
Hemianthus micranthemoides have the same requirements as glosso....Heterenthera zosterifolia needs constantly clipping and high light. if you can manage that then go for it its a beautiful plant...Hygrophila polysperma 'rosanervig' a GREAT plant for a beginner. Not light demanding at all and fairly easy to take care of....
Limnophila aromatica also called Gratiola officinalis needs co2 and high light...
Ludwigia arcuata can't go wrong with ludwigia it's another favorite...can't go wrong with Rotala rotundifolia - green or Rotala indica...and finally Vallisneria spiralis var. contortionist is another great plant.....PHEW
