Im afraid that i got some of this stuff in my tank. The beard is on my driftwood, and the staghorn is in my moss. Thankfully it hasn't taken over yet.... The only thing that eats this is SAE's, which get to 6 inches. Correct me if im wrong, but they are a little too big for a 20g tall. Now for the real question: How do i get rid of it without having to destroy my plants or tank?

just imo get the smallest sae you can find and let them go at it. when they grow to much for your tank give him back to your lfs for store credit? or simply for free who knows someone might need it for something. and just make sure you get an ACTUALY sae not a flying fox or false sae...you might wanna order one online to ensure you get an actual sae

Get flourish excel double dose it for 14 days and you should have no more algae. if you dose it on the algae it will work faster.

Another fish option is something called a flagfish (in my part of the country). I've used them myself and they will help control the blackbeard population, but won't rid you completely like the chemical treatment recommended above.
