I just got a Rena XP2 and I cannot stand the color of the intake tube. It just looks so out of place. I want to paint it black. My plan is to sand it down a little with very fine sandpaper and then paint it with latex paint. To prevent it leeching I was looking into epoxying the pieces to seal them. Has anyone done this? Will it be safe for the fish?

Do a search for aquarium safe spray paint on the site, I am pretty sure there are some that can be used and it would be easier than coating with epoxy
^^ Yep, the only prep I'd do on the tube is lightly sand it (even though on the can of fusion it says no prepping necessary, the paint could still scratch off the sleek surface), I've painted my pvc intake and out nozzle as well:
