I never buy a pet without knowing what I'm doing, and how to care for it, but I bought an African Dwarf frog today, and I didn't have time to ask before how to introduce him to my tank!

My tank is a 2.5 gallon hexagon, with one female betta, no filter, and some fake plants. Do I just plop him in? I figured I'd add some NoveAqua just in case, and not put any of his water in the tank at all. Do I need to float him in it first? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, you do need to float him in the water at first because, like fish, he is still cold blooded and a sudden temperature change can kill him. I don't think you have to worry (as) much about the fish store water and yours being the same because he is an amphibian.. (That means, IMO, you don't have to put your water in the fish stoor bag). That's my 2 cents anyway :)

I would float him to adjust for temp. for sure. I would also pour some tank water in the bag, about 50/50 to whats in there already. If the Ph is off it could shock him with a drastic change. Let him sit for 10 to 20 min. then into the tank with him. Good luck.:)

An African Dwarf Frog may nip at the fins of your betta, watch him closely.

Thanks everyone! I floated him a bit ago, and now he's in the 50/50 water, and will go into the tank in a couple minutes. :)

I'm not too worried about him nipping at the fins, 'cause Vitara- being a female- doesn't have much fin! :) I will keep an eye on them though. :) Thanks again!
