I wanted to say 'Hello', so here goes... Hello!
I'm a marine biologist/aquaculturist, but a bit of a newbie when it comes to the aquarium hobby. I got into aquariums when a previous roommate decided to neglect a pair of breeding convicts in a 10 gallon tank... so I took them in. I had to give them all away before I moved, but one fry escaped my net and survived my 600 mil move, so I've decided to keep him. He's now 4 inches long, and I've upgraded my tank to a 20h, and added a few pieces of driftwood, some live java fern, and a snail.

I'm finding that the convict is a real terror, so I dont think many fish will survive in there with him, but I have no idea how to tell the females from the males, so I'm guessing that finding a female to pair with him is going to be hard.

Any comments or tips on how to make my tank look better would be greatly appreciated. I'd be happy to answer any questions as far as commercial aquaculture is concerned... I have experience in FW and marine fish larviculture, recirculating systems, fish nutrition, pond culture, and artificial spawning.

by the way... can anyone tell me how to put a picture on here???

Looks nice! You could post it in the photo forum to get more feedback. A black background would look really nice.

OK, I'll do that:)
