The same way people find the virgin marry on their burnt toast, or cheeto which looks like jesus.. Well if you look closely you can make out a water spot image of the last supper on Mg's tanks..

Is that a sump?

Mgamer20o0
04-07-2008, 2:25 AM
no its 3 rena xp filters that you can see on the ground next to it and 2 hot mags on the tank.

skillful abbot
04-07-2008, 2:40 AM
I see. I thought that was a sump for something bigger. Why all that for the 29? The current must be torrential!!

As a SW guy, sorry, not impressed. ;) I have 68x turnover on my 29G tank and I am trying to reach 100x.. and NO spraybars.

Now this is a filter. ;)

dude, you suck. i've got a 29g reef too and that's exactly what i want my sump to look like, i should have installed all the glass before i put it under the tank, breaking it down is going to suck. i'm hoping to shoot for 100x too, although i'll probably settle for more around 1,000gph. i always laugh whenever somebody has a FW tank and talks about how it's so insanely overfiltered because they've got a filter rated for 2x the size of their tank and a 12x turnover and then someone comes along and says they've got too much filtration :headshake2: yea, not possible. i do like this guys setup though, that's pretty decent filtration.

in fw its not about moving some water around

no, but it does help a lot.

04-10-2008, 8:49 PM
ok yea these pics are really neat, uhuh. why though so much on a 29? are you trying to create a whirlpool?

Mgamer20o0
04-10-2008, 9:03 PM
its not too much is it?

OgreMkV
04-10-2008, 9:12 PM
NO, if you want to end up with 3 bacteria per filter. Besides, there's probably still a stagnant corner in that tank... sigh.

Derringer
04-10-2008, 9:14 PM
The worst part is cleaning all those filters ... whats the cleaning schedule like?

Mgamer20o0

dang gamer!..... i am going to beat you now. i am catching up LOL just you wait another 6 months. my tank will be at 50x turn over rate LOL

silentcircuit
05-22-2011, 5:11 PM
Actual flow is probably a good bit lower than that, of course.

Still impressive.

If I put all my filters on my 29 I could get close to that (500+500+350+100)... but I think the single 500 rated canister is sufficient.
