I was bored today and got me to thinking.
I got an idea for a filter/sump type of a thing, please give me some imput.
I want to make an overflow box out of acylic then draining it into a 5 gallon sump/ trickle filter.

I want to take a 5 gallon water bottle and cut off about 1/4 of it(basically the spout/funnel shaped top) and flip it upside down so the funnel part is now facing downward.
Then get some egg crate stuff for lighting and cut it to form layer on the inside of the 5 gallon bottle with media on top of them.
Then on the bottom have a pvc pipe drawing water into a bucket then pumped back into the tank

Do you think that this would work out okay?
What size tank would this filter?

i dont see wy it wouldnt work... just curious, why?? ther are much easier and more efficent ways to build filters. :)

oh true true.. :) ya it should work, let us know how it goes, post some pics.. are you starting soon?? :)
