who knew? i didnt know. this is the main reason why my cheato wasnt growing at all. i thought it only needs light, nitrates and good flow to grow. :angryfire:

Well he mentions it can come in in food. I don't dose Iron and I know my chaeto grows like crazy. So, maybe my food is doing the trick. ;)

Do you have a tank thread that tells all your setup/equipment/timing/params?

I notice you have a few critters down there. What have you got citter wise altogether in the fuge as they could be eating it?
Ps I don't add anything to my tank and I'm for ever having to cut mine back and give it to my LFS.
Also, why cheato? That is one of the slower growing macros. Get something like Calupra and you will be trimming it back every weekend. I had a little of both in my fuge when I first put macro in it and the calupra quickly outgrew and choked out the cheato.

am i doing something wrong here?
is the cyno taking all the phosphate and nitrates? dont cheato eat faster than cyno?
dont cheato eat nitrates when nights are off and use those light to grown when its on?
am i mistaken?

have cheato in my fuge it is a slow grower but in the time I have had mine(4months) it has grown from baseball size to basketball size..mine does not roll along the bottom it is aganst the wall near the return side of the fuge..the water filters thru it to get to the return.
I have grape calupera on the otherside..it grows like crazy but it an go sexual.. I toss handfulls of the calupera every water change...I use it to feed the tangs which seem to love the stuff.
with calupera they suggest you keep the lights on 24/7.
