I was snooping around the net and came up with this from AC
http://www.aquariacentral.com/species/db.cgi?db=marine&uid=default&ID=0048&view_records=1
so i was wondering if it would work in my 60G aquarium for the next 3 years until i graduate and take over my dads 125G? I just love those porcs!

It MIGHT, but it would need to be the ONLY fish with heaps if water changes and liverock....

I personaly would not. These do actually get very large in comparison to other puffers.

i'd go with a smaller puffer, like a valentini. i used to have one and i LOVED him. he had loads of personality and became rather friendly, and was excited to see me when i got home from school because he knew i was going to feed him. :)

Most places I've seen state a minimum of 75 gal (I've always wanted one as well) but they're just basic guidelines. 3 years is a long time, and the fish will grow and if it hasn't got enough room it well get stressed. You also don't know that your dad's tank is still going to be available in 3 years and you'll be stuck with a big fish in a small tank.

well it was in his office and now is just sitting in our storage unit... I fully fully expect it to be there. I had a valentini.. but the worst thing ever happened. I was in the other room, heard my protein skimmer freaking out and i saw him all puffed up and stuck on the water pump... he died later that night. Next time i buy a stand i have to make sure it has room for a sump. Boy howdy do i want one of those porcs though.

I know how you feel, I'm desperate for one. I have a tank big enough but I went Reef!!!
Can you not set up your dad's tank now?

.... but that does not help me when my life is based on instant gratification!

Tell me about it. When I make up my mind I want something - then I want it yesterday! If it helps P.Puffers are more prone to Ich which is also why I don't do certian tangs even though I really want one! (Just trying to soften the blow a bit:grinyes:)

no joke... well i guess if i dont get a puffer that means someday i can upgrade to a reef... which would be nice, and right now i have just the standard out of box lights that came with my tank... which are the same as a 55G, how much more would my elitricitiy bill be if I got T5s... alot more.. a little more.. no difference?
