I pick up this guy at the lfs.... they had them labeled, with a bunch of others as assorted cichilds....

Looks like either p. socolofi or a p. elongatus, the pics are just too blurry to say for sure.

Mbuna, and that's about all you can tell unless you really KNOW what it is (label on tank includes exact scientific name and collection location or the fish is from parents that meet this requirement).

sorry for the blurry pics.... all i had was my cell phone...i will try to take some with my camera a little later tonight
all the label had was assorted cichlids....

looks like a tanginikan from the pointed head. Either way, ppl call them blue zebras..

It is a cichlid from Lake Malawi, not Lake Tanganyika. I would guess Pseudotropheus elongatus as well.

I think you hit it on the head lupin... googled some pics and that would be it

You'll never know if its pure strain, but Pseudotropheus Elongatus is as close as it gets, I agree.
