the Discus eggs turned white and they ate them but now they are starting to squirm and move about. I think they are finally going to hatch. What now? What are the odds they will live? Should I consider putting them in a different tank eventually? Separate them from the others? Any help would be much appreciated. :help:

I'm confused. You said the eggs turned white and the pair ate them. Then they are starting to squirm and then hatch?

sorry for the confusion the last few times (month or so) she has layed eggs and I guess he didn't fertilize them so they ate them. But a few days ago she laid eggs again now they are starting to squirm so I am assuming they are hatching. They are very protective with the other discus. Will send pics.

leave the fry with the parents. the parents will raise and feed them.

you may want to move the breeding pair to another tank.

Thanks. I am in the process of getting a breeding tank I am guessing around 29 gal no gravel, heater, water pump: what else would you suggest?

Congrats! I'm not very optimistic about success in a community tank. The next step will be for them to try to attach to the parents to feed off of the parents slime coat. But they will try to attach to anything dark in the tank. The babies may have trouble finding the parents, the color of the fish is such that they can't darken themselves up much. My leopard snakeskin get almost black in preparation for the fry. And that is where all the peppering came from on my male white butterfly....darkening up! So when you set up your breeder tank, you need to cover your filter intake with a white stocking. And once they do go freeswimming and are ready to eat, you will have to have baby brine shrimp ready. HTH a little.

Thanks
My wife is purchasing tank divider I hoping this will work and maybe the Pigeon blood will help for them to attach but I have heard there could be a problem because of her color the male is blue leopard. Eventually I will have to get a breeder tank. I got ahead of myself, thanks on the tank advice.

what about the water filter? With stocking around it will it still be able to do its job with the fish and eggs where they are at now?
