Remove Biowheel? CO2 injection.

Currently i have 2 emperor 400's on my 125 gallon long. I will be injecting CO2 within the next week. I already have quite a few plants that dont seem to be doing so good, hence the CO2 injection. I have about 252 watts over the tank.

Should i remove all the Biowheels to help keep the CO2 in the tank? Will this affect my cycle?
 
to be completely honest I don't believe the bio wheels do anything except give the tank better o2 saturation by creating more surface area of water that hits the air.
I have not only removed a bio wheel and had no effect on my bio filter but I've also had a bio wheel on one of my most succseful co2 injected planted tanks

so no you don't have to remover it but just don't put it over your co2 diffuser.
 
The Bio-Wheel does house bacteria...don't see why people refuse to believe that. It will also house a significant amount if you only let them colonize there. Remove it, keep it, just be sure that there is other media for colonization.
 
Surface agitation will waste your CO2. Before jumping to the conclusion that the BW is the problem, tell us more about your lights & your ferts regimen & NO3 levels.

i didnt say the biowheel was the problem. i was asking if i should remove the biowheel once i start the CO2 injection. i know that surface agitation releases the CO2.
 
if your tank is well established there is no need to worry about removing the bio wheel.
If you want to completely eliminate the filter from gassing off your co2 you will need to get a canister filter and keep the out flow under the surface.
Like I said a steady flow of co2 is no match for the slight gas exchange caused by a HOB filter.
