So I was looking at my tank today to see these little spores attached to my glass; they kind of look like these things:

But smaller. Does anyone know what they are? Is this the precursor of algae? If so I will wipe the glass immediately.

I have a planted tank w/ java moss, java fern, hornwort, sunset hygrophila.

I'm really not sure what the stuff is - it kind of looks like hydra, but they're just tiny and stuck on the glass. It's a fairly new tank too...(4 weeks).

So from what I've googled, Hydra can get really bad but can be fixed in a number of ways ranging from cranking the temperature (after removing fish), treating w/ copper, various chemicals, ammonium nitrate, etc.

I also see that introducing some mystery snails or a gourami will deal w/ it. That being said, I have a tank with just a few small livebearers so a gourami may not work.

Thoughts?

take live bearers out into bucket brain tank, fill with tap w/o dechlor wait 24 hours and add dechlor (Amquel) and put fish back in?
