the coralife T5- is it a decent light?

hmm... ive never seen this unit before but coralife isnt bad but they're not the best either. if u think the price is alright and u can afford a loss if it so happens then id say go for it

It probably isn't terrible fixture wise, but be aware that they are normal output lamps, not T5 H(igh)O(utput) lamps that everyone else talks about. You really couldn't keep much of anything with those.

I'd pass on that light. Like Amphiprion stated, it's just the normal output T5s. 48" T5 HO bulbs are 54w a piece.

Agreed...if you want coral...go for T5HO or higher, not just T5s.

ah, that is what I was missing. I didn't realize that those were not T5 HO, thanks for pointing that out to me.

I found two others, that are low priced setups, I am considering one of these instead, but I am not sure which company is better, NOVA or GLO. The LFSs located near me sells the GLO light in the second link for $250 which amazes me.

I also found a TEK, and I don't know about that company either.

I cannot find any dual setups with individual reflectors, though.

Thanks for the help :)

the tek light is probably one of the best units on the market. the tek does have individual reflectors. i plan on getting the 6 bulbs unit for my 75 reef in the next couple of weeks.

Really? Maybe I should get the Tek retrofit kit then, it is cheaper than the other setups on ebay atm.

oh wait, Do all the tek setups have individual reflectors? the auction does not say, it just says "Tek Reflector" It is the 2X54 Watt retrofit setup.

At my LFS they have Coralife and Nova Extreme set-ups. I have a set of the Nova Extreme 4-48" T-5 VHO's on lay-away at the moment. They told me that the bulbs on the Coralife I would have to replace them more frequent than the Nova's set. Hope this helps and if this is not correct, feel free to say so?
