So, I got home from work today and my fiance excitedly told me that I was totally wrong when I thought one of my angels was constipated. Apparently, she was chock full of eggs.
I'm actually pretty shocked. Though my angels were never super hostile to one another, they're not particularly friendly. I don't know exactly when it happened since neither of us were home but it's been at least 6 hours and they're both still there protecting the eggs. The eggs are spread out on two anubias leaves, which I didn't expect. For some reason i assumed it would be the val they used if and when it happened. Of course, the anubias is right in the middle of the tank, so all of the other fish are relegated to the corners. The angels don't seem to care at all about the corys though.
I don't expect any of the eggs to survive since this is the first time. I'm actually surprised they have lasted this long (all looking healthy and orange). Still, yay!

I may be wrong but I think if they have turned orange they have been attacked by fungus,and if they turn white they are infertile.They should stay translucent in color.Methalene blue should be added to the water immediately after the eggs are laid to control fungus.

That's great,they may hatch but will become fish food if they reach free swimming.You don't need to add anything to the water for fungus as this is a community tank and the parents are taking care of the eggs.Clear or orange eggs should indicate mom and pop got it right on the first try.

Thanks. =)
This morning there are some eggs that have turned white, but the majority are translucent and orange still. And the parents are still all systems go on defense. It's quite interesting to watch.

transluscent orange is good.
white eggs are infertile and can start to grow fungus, but the parents will probably eat the white eggs before they can rot.

Just got home from art class and only 1/3 of the clutch is remaining. All the white ones are gone, so the angels did take care of them. Since it's been over 24 hours and I've still got translucent orange eggs, can I assume those eggs were fertilized properly? (I know I've got a male and female because their "bits" are different.)

Your first spawn (Great news), Your eggs that are orange in color are perfect, they will take 5-7 days to hatch at 80-82 degrees. Your Angels will probably eat the eggs the first few times after that if your are lucky enough, your pair may allow the eggs to hatch and they will begin to raise the fry. We have several tanks where our Angels have become excellent parents as long as their is no threat from any other fish in the tank. We also have several pairs that are poor parents and we remove the eggs after an hour or so and hatch them ourselves. Good Luck.

About the Methalene blue, we no longer use it because it stains everything. We use Maroxy to help with egg fungus. We are currently using it in all our hatching tanks and it works great.

As expected, all of the eggs are gone. I wasn't expecting much since this was their first spawn, so I'm not disappointed. On the contrary, I'm pretty excited they've gone through this first hurdle. =)
