I currently have a 55 gallon tank populate per my signature.
I eventually plan to get a single angelfish. Could a single german blue ram also share the tank with the angel, and the rest of the inhabitants?
Is it OK to get a single GBR? I am afraid the if I get two, there might be territorial disputes. Is that true?
Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

the only thing i would worry about is the loach.

Aye, it would be a fair criticism that my setup is not the best for the hillstream loach, I am trying to figure out what I will do with him. He is pretty laid back though, and I wouldn't forsee any "personality conflicts" between him and other fish.

As far as the Angel and Rams are concerned, in a 55 you should have no problems. You could do 2 Rams if they are M/F. The loach needs very different conditions though.
Off topic... your sig cracks me up!

He he thanks. :-)
I'd consider a M/F pair, but I hear that sometimes they don't "hit it off" and must be seperated. Can a GBR be happy alone?

I have a sole one in a tank with an angel and others. Didn't do it on purpose, it was a rescue. Seems to be happy.
One should be fine by itself . I kept a male by himself after he relentlessly bullied his previous mates. He was happy as could be having the tank to himself.

GBR will be ok with angels

It's not the temperament of the loach that is the problem as plenty of hillstream loaches aren't that aggressive enough to engage plenty other fish species to clashes. It's their environment that I believe Watauga was more concerned of as your other fish do not like fast flowing currents which unfortunately your hillstream loach requires. If you can get a 3-footer tank, start a river manifold setup from there and keep the temperature stable at 72-74 degrees. You can keep a dozen loaches in there without too much trouble.;)
Rams and angels are fine. I've kept a large group of both before with no issues.

:iagree:
temps that angels and especially GBR's require are just to warm for hillstreams

Lupin and jm,
Thanks for the advice. I need to either get another tank for him or find another home altogether for him.
