I'm looking at getting a tank with angels, cories and diamond tetras... will the water need to be too soft for them to have apple or ramshorn snails in there?

do you mean common ramshorns or marisas? commons will be fine. What will the pH and hardness be in teh tank?

I meant brigs really. Maybe some ramshorns if I get some babies in my other tanks ;) I've never done a soft tank so this is preemptive, but my water is fairly hard and pH runs 7.2-7.4 out of my tap. It may be fine as is (which i hope, messing with pH and hardness scares me) for angels and tetras. I was just looking for advice

I don't think you will need to mess with your ph unless you are planning on getting wild caught specimens. Your ph out of tap would be fine for brigs as long as they are fed a calcium rich diet.

That pH range will be fine for angels and tetras, no need to monkey around with it.

Whew, thank you both! I have never had luck with angels and gave up on them years ago, but I do love them and would love to have a smaller specimen tank with one in it. I am glad not to mess with my pH. what a nightmare!
