To start things off, I have had my angelfish for over 2 years.

My tank size is 29g... I have
1 koi angel
1 bamboom shrimp
6 peppered cories

My parameters
79F
Nitrites - 0ppm
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrates -10ppm

My foods
Omega One flakes
frozen blood worms
frozen brine shrimp
daphnia

Last week I purchased a Bolivian Ram. My angel is the boss in the tank, so he was chasing it around like nothing. I separated the tank in half with eggcrate. My angel behavior completely changed. He doesn't seem to eat anymore and his fins are clamped and he just stays in a corner most of the time... I'm not sure what happened.

On the otherside though my Bolivian is absolutely wonderful and darting and hiding everywhere.

What's going on with my angel? I have fasted him for 2 days already and he is still like that. One good aspect is that my angel will still chase the cories/ram out of his "area"

Is my angel sick?

could be just sulking..you did recently add a tank mate then cut off half of the domain...

keep an eye on the angel tho.

Check the Angel and the Ram for little red worms in the anus.
I had 4 Rams that passed due to this. The Ram could have introduced them to the Angel.

i'm looking at the ram. it looks like a piece of poop hanging out... i'm not sure if it's poop or a worm..

Here is the link to my 'Diary' - it is hard to get the right medications in Canada.

If you don't see any red worms protuding from the the fish with the clamped fins then it may be something completely different.

Thanks for this post. Two of my Angels behavior also change in the last week or so. I thought they might be pairing off. They were hiding, not eating or swimming like they used to.

I looked at them closer today and sure enough they have worms coming from their anus. I bought some Jungle anti parasite food tonight and ordered some powdered Levasole to have on hand.

I hope all goes well with the treatment.

levasole is the 'sheep' version of t levamisole ..same med..if it's HCL it will be water soluable.

if the red worms are thread like..most parasie meds commonly used are not very effective..that is camillanus..it is resistant to metro and prazi..but will secumb to fenbendazole, flubendazole or levamisole(levamisole shouldbe redosed 2-3 weeks after the worms have passed.)

also be aware there is a protozoa infestation(internal parasite) capillaria it is NOT visible to the naked eye...also treated effectively with the meds mentioned for camillanus.

I actually bought Levamisole Soluble Pig Wormer (AgriLabs). They are thread like and not too bad compared to most of the online pics I saw.

it'll work it's the same med with a diff brand name.

remember to retreat in 2-3 weeks after the initial treatment.

One other note: I found that my fish seemed to have a harder time breathing when I dosed the tank with the medications so I added a bubbler bar. It seemed to help.

Just thought I would mention it.
