My 25G community has been up and running for 4 years. Tank conditions are good, the tank is lightly planted and currently being filtered by an Aquaclear 200, as well as having an airstone for aeration.
The tank currently houses the following fish:
-3 clown loaches (one 3 inches, one 1.5 inches, one under 1 inch)
-2 Juhli corydoras
-2 lemon tetras (the school used to be at 5, but lost 3 over the years)
-1 zebra danio (used to live with some friends in another tank before they were unfortunately killed)
-1 bristlenose pl*co (3 inches)
My "problem" is that my tank looks very very empty, the pl*co basically hides all day long, the lemon tetras and the danio are the only fish that really inhabit the upper/middle regions of the tank. I was wondering if it would be safe to add anything else and what recommendations people would have as to what would be an interesting addition to occupy these regions of the tank and enhance the tank's appearance?

The clown loaches will get to big.
YOu get get some more corys, and a school of cardinal tetras or neon tetras. Maybe a dwarf african cichlid like a blue ram. Maybe get some more zebras, like two, so you don jsut have one.

Bump up the schools you already have, but be aware of the clown loaches eventual size. Andy16, a blue ram is south american, not african. :)

I am aware of the clown loaches eventual size, but they do grow extremely slowly. My largest clown has grown no more than an inch in the time that i've had him and he eats like a pig. The school of tetras sounds like an interesting idea, I was also considering adding a gourami or two, not sure what type yet.

put some cichlids in there! like apistogrammas or some rams. like the apisto "cockatoo dwarf cichlid" they are very nice fish are stay fairly small like 3", and they are not really aggressive at all, and they bring a lot of color to your tank.

I would suggest a couple of dwarf gouramis. I have a neon blue and a powder blue (the two look almost identical if you ask me) as well as a cinnamon (I've also seen ones that look just like him called flame). They are beautiful and colorful and they primarily occupy the middle and upper levels but also wander around the bottom in search of food. They are definitely my favorites.

beware some tetra's are not very hardy at all . I hav emade repeate d attempts to make a neon/ black neon school and they always die to ick despite the medicine i put in. anyway Paradise fish are very pretty fish to put in.. or the extremely popular betta.
Or a golden .opaline, and blue gourami will do good they are the same fish just different color varitions well according to this fish book i bought they are.

I'd beware of paradise fish... they are sometimes peaceful, sometimes they are a nightmare. Same goes with the opaline gourami...(Females are usually much more peaceful, but the males will go after anything that looks remotely like them).
If you want gourami, the Dwarfs are the best way to go. IMO, they are one of the prettiest freshwater species available.
Add in a small school of Emperor tetras, Nematobrycon palmeri. Mine have been quite hardy, vigorous, beautiful fish. Do be careful about the male/female mix if you want to preserve peace, though! One male to four or five females works well, and these fish are easily sexed by eye color (males blue, females green.)
