I was wondering what plants were native to the african lakes...besides vals.:)

Vals are one of the only commercially available plants native to lake malawi, others include ceratophyllum demersum, different species of utricularia and ottelia exserta.

I think Anubius is from Africa, but not sure where in Africa.

Yep they're from africa, but are a primarily river plant.

Yeah, vals are the only native plants available from the rift lakes...others are riverine.
and the buggers will chow down on valls for all they're worth.
If you want to try plants with rift lake, try Java Ferns for a start - too bitter to be tasty.

Yeah i tried to grow vals but they all melted!!!
I have a ton of Java Fern in with mine, which does really well, some Valls which basically get up to about 6 inches before they are noticed and promptly hammered down again, Some Java Moss which is taking pretty nicely.
