At my LFS today I spotted a "Ram Angel Hybrid" as it was labeled on the tank. Looked like a ram to me, so I'm not sure why it is called a Hybrid. I asked if it would be compatble with my discus and the answer was yes. I trust the LFS owner, but not enough to take a chance without asking the experts on this site.
Please share your experience with mixing, or not mixing these fish. Thanks!

probably a balloon ram..not really a hybrid..they were bred with the intended shape.
there is a long veil variety out there too.

balloon ram is definitely the right answer star...not sure why they commonly refer to them as "hybrids" in my area
Is it compatible?

Angels and rams cannot breed together. It's only another deformed strain selectively bred. Long-finned and balloon combo.

first they call them angel 'hybrids' because of the angel like body shape.(use your imagination or you won't visualize it:lipssealedsmilie: it's a stretch)
as for being compatible..yes..it will have the attitude of a ram which are very compatible with discus.
I agree with lupin.. I doubt seriously an angel would breed with a ram..tho they do make terrific tank mates.
