I bought this female angel couple years ago at LFS as "assorted angel" and just decided to find out what she realy is.
Please let me know what you think.

Here is the pic (another one in my avatar).

Isn't the difference between a gold marble and a koi that the koi blushes and the marble does not?

not all kois are blushers even so many only retain the 'blusher' until they get older.

key to koi is the orange, black spots and usually white.
I believe angels plus is trying to get a heavy orange angel Koi.

it is still P.Scalare.

Gold marble, heterozygous. No orange, more gold in the crown as a gold marble would show, nowhere near the black a koi would show, and no sign of any blush Fig. 5; http://theangelfishsociety.org/articles/norton/dr_norton(14).htm

Koi angels are technically gold marble blushers, star_rider is correct that some do outgrow their blush. The only sure way to tell the genetics of an unknown angel is to cross it with one of known genetics.

Steve has had the 90%+ orange koi for a while now, he just doesn't have them that often. I picked up eight almost a year ago, nice breeders.

Check out his orange marble blushers; http://www.angelsplus.com/FishOrangeMarble.htm

These are the next hot thing in angels, I'm waiting for him to get some select ready, ship those babys to me.

I was wondering about the orange in the dorsal fin.

OK, you guys realize you are confusing me right now, right? LOL

is she marble or gold koi?

she never looked any different than she does now. no blushers.

it doesnt really matter that much but I would like to know. :)

gold marble, just *very* light on the marble (black) part.

talk about compromise. I can live with that wataugachicken.

now sort of on a different subject:
If I wanted to get her a mate, what are the chances of success? she has laid eggs quite a few times on the HOB filter intake so it would be nice to try and have some babies.
(next thing I know I will have 12000 like that woman from wisconsin) :)

lol, even if you have to fry some up with butter and garlic and spread them on a cracker - do not let yourself wind up with 12000 baby angels.

all kidding aside, is there a chance that she would pair up with a male after being alone for a long time? would the male have to be about same size?
