I think I found at least 20 egg sacs in my tank today. I spent an hour scouring my plants for the things (I HOPE I got all/most of them). They came off pretty easy. I think one might have gotten up in my filter, but hopefully it came out when I rinsed it.
It looked like at least 2 egg sacs had been hatched already, and I found what looked like a limpet (but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a new snail).
Questions!
1. How long does it take for common ramshorn eggs to hatch, after being laid? I know at least one set was laid only yesterday.
2. Do snails act funny before they start laying? I noticed the past day or two, at least one pair of snails has held still for 30 mintues to an hour at a time while one was on the other's side.
3. Do ramshorns typically lay ONLY on plants/smooth surfaces? I looked all over my driftwood, but the only places I found eggs were on leaves, in the corners of the tank, and one on the filter intake.
4. Is there a resource with pictures of different snail egg clusters somewhere? The egg sacs I found didn't look like I expected, and I think it'd be a good thing to have around for all the new snail keepers out there.
