I know, I know, platies breed easier than rabbits. I started with three and away they went. My problem is the adults, which I have several of now, have seemingly no interest in eating the fry. So the fry run rampant and become new adults and the cycle starts over again.

Now I love fry just as much as the next person, but my poor little 10 gallon can't take anymore adults. Are there any shrimp species that will go after fry? I have one Amano shrimp, who doesn't really care about the fry either. Is there any way to entice my adults into eating the fry?

:( It's a tough situation and, if I must, I'll try and raise them and give them away, but I would rather find a solution that will work for future babies as well.

There is no way you can persuade the adults to eat the fry unless you starve the adults for a week or two in which they will resort to the fry for food instead.

Ghost shrimp eat fry believe it or not. Also you can trade your platies at you LFS for store credit.

I have ghost shrimp in my 75 gallon community tank and they get along just fine and I have witnessed them eat fry.

See if the LFS will trade in all females for males... Lots of LFS don't mind taking fry of your hands but most won't give you store credit (at least not in my area). L.
