View Full Version : Holes in leaves

I'm finally experiencing the first problem in my planted tank- holes in leaves, specifically hygrophila (is my spelling correct?).

I have read that this indicates a potassium deficiency?

The tank is maintained with Seachem Flourish products (including Excel) so adding a bit more K is no problem.
I was told initially that I would have to tweak some of the nutes, so this is no real surprise- I just want to double and triple check before I begin changing what has been very successful otherwise.

Cearbhaill,

Do you by any chance have low N03? Has it 'zeroed out' recently? If so, that might be your problem.

If the N03 has been maintained in the 10-15ppm range (or better) the the problem could well be your availability of K. You can add some easily using Mortons Salt Substitute (potassium chloride, KCl) or if your N03 level is low, KN03.
