View Full Version : Silver dollars
Just wondering how fast they would grow from about 1-2" to being fully mature.

Depends on your tank's: Size, Filtration, other inhabitants, how much you feed them, how healthy they are, so there is no definite way to tell. I would guess more than a year, maybe 2 or 3, but thats just a weak guess.

The ones I had with my 'old tank' set-up grew very fast. They didn't reach the maximum size of 6" though... They like to be kept as a school.
I'm not sure how long it takes for them to mature...
I plan to get a shoal of 6 and grow them out in a 55g. Just wondering how long it would be before they were fully grown so I could place them with A green terror and jack dempsey in a 125G

lol uh oh getting technical now. Well you know, that silver dollar EVERYONE uses as a target for large central/south american cichlids :D. lol just kidding man. I was talking about Metynnis argenteus. Just want silver dollars, no spotted or red hooks or anything of that nature.
