Snails vs salt ich treatment

One of my fish came down with ich in my 14g tank. I've removed it to its own QT tank to treat but I also want to treat the 14g to protect the fish still there. I would like to treat the 14g with heat and aquarium salt over the next couple of weeks to kill off the ich. None of the other fish appear sick so I think a mild 1/2 strength salt treatment would be acceptable.

My concern is, can my snails tolerate this? I have one large golden mystery snail and several baby snails. How do they respond to salted water? Are there temperatur limitations for snails. I was thinking 84/86 F for 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for your help.

Snails can tolerate salt concentrations used for ich treatment. The elevated temperature may cause them to have a growth ring in their shell and can speed their metabolism consequently shortening their life span. If at all possible, I always recommend people remove their inverts for treatment.

Yes, I actually keep my snail tank at 72 so I would think ambient temp will be fine. Just keep a close eye to make sure there is not an ammonia/nitrite spike as snails are pretty big waste producers. In a smallish container it should be easy to do water changes if needed.

yes they will be fine at room temp if you seperate. they will also tolerate a temp of 84 with salt treatment but as stated b4 growth rings.
