I suddenly found a few snails in my tank. I have been looking online for most of the day to try and identify these but I am having trouble.
I thought they were Olive Nerite but now I am not sure. They look like them a bit but they have a swirl that points to the rear not the side, maybe two or three swirls. They do not have a door. I don't see any antenna's. I don't think they are Trumpet's because the swirls are not that long. They also don't seem to need to go up for air so I suppose they are aquatic snails. They are not like a round ball, they are longer than wide.
They are a dark color kind of like the Olive Nerite.
They don't seem to be eating any plants but are going crazy on the algae. I first seen one, and now about two weeks later, there are maybe 4 or more with some tinny babies.
I did a google search for photo's but they don't really look like anything that I have seen.
Can anybody point me to a good site with good photo's or maybe a name?
I received plants from two sources so I can't say from where they came from.
So far, I don't see any harm in them.
Thank you
Joe
