I goofed, back to the LFS with the golden algae eater

Nuts, I should have known better. On a whim, I bought 2 golden algae eaters without having really researched them and not having information at my fingertips at the time. I did ask the store employee (I know, always a mistake...) how big they get. "Oh, about 4 inches."

When I got home I Googled golden algae eater and discovered that they can get as big as 1 foot and become increasingly aggressive towards other fish as they grow and can attack other fish, so now I have to schlep them back to the store.

I really have to find a way to keep information readily available when I go shopping. I'm thinking PDA with an ebook atlas, but so far I'm not finding any freshwater fish atlases in electronic form.

There is a sticky about Siamese Algae Eaters that is wonderful - pictures and details of what to look for. When I bought my Siamese Algae Eaters there were all three varieties in the same tank, all were "Flying Fox". The guy at the LFS thought I was nuts for picking out only certain fish and insisted there was no difference. After I pointed out the differences to him he admitted that all this time he never noticed!
