Please excuse the pic quality (cheapo camera) and algae problem. Current inhabitants are 1 Festivum Cichlid (Mesonauta festivus), 4 Schistura mahnerti, 3 Sinibotia robusta, and 10 Rummynose Tetra (Petitella Georgiae). I'm going to be adding CO2 in the coming weeks to help with the algae and plant growth and probably doubling the Rummies. Substrate is Flourite, Filters are XP3 and AC110.

Nope, not really. I just have too much light over it and need to add CO2. It doesn't bother the fish and only takes 5 minutes to scrape. Call me crazy, but I like a lil algae in a tank. It's more natural IMO. Once I get CO2 running, it should be fine.
Man that is a great tank HN - love the fish selection too.
I'm with you on the algae, within bounds. I love the covering on the back and side panes. Lets see updates, especially as you add the CO2

Thanks man! Coming from you, I consider it high praise. Your planted African tank is spectucalar and one of the best of any I've seen.

How much light are you running?
Is that algae slimy? It doesn't look like GSA though it could be GDA.
Will look great when it fills in.
I've got some Alternanthera reineckii that would look great in there I'll trade for some shrimp.

Thanks! She's the boss of the tank, greets me if I enter the room, hand feeds, and is absolutely my favorite individual fish! :)

130 over 55 is 2.36 wpg. I run 65 over 29 which is 2.24 wpg. No CO2..
Thats more likely BGA then other algae. More of a nutrient algae, low nitrates, then a CO2 problem. Blackouts didn't work for me. I dosed E.M. Erythromycin and its gone and hasn't returned. I just make sure after each water change to drop a 1/2 tsp of KNO3 in the tank.

Thanks folks! I just added 12 more Rummies to it today (they look SOOOO cool in a big school!), and got a CO2 system that I'll add when I get back from travel along with a new big piece of DW to replace the fake stump.

Got rid of the fake blue stump. The algae problemis clearing up a bit thanks to a 6 day blackout while I was traveling. I also picked up a CO2 system on sale and will get that running once I get the tank for it.
Pic #2 & 3- Everyone's soooo social when it comes to sinkng wafers. :headshake2:
Pic #4- You could almost hear the loaches yelling "No fair"! :grinyes:
Great pics - looks even better without the plastic stump. Cute loaches too lol.

Thanks folks... now I just have to get some more plants (ahem Ice check your PMs) in there and set up my CO2.
Lupin- I found Mahnertis for $2.99 ea (labelled as "red banded chinese tiger loaches") in Seattle while I was travelling last week, but it was a Sat so I couldn't ship them to myself. :(
